Water Extraction and Structural Drying
Standing water out first, then the water you can’t see: inside walls, under floors and in the framing. We dry it and prove it with daily readings.

- 01
Extract Standing Water
Pumps and extractors pull water out of floors, carpet and pad. The more water comes out now, the faster everything dries.
- 02
Map the Moisture
Meters and thermal imaging show exactly which walls, floors and framing are wet.
- 03
Set Up Equipment
Air movers, dehumidifiers and, when needed, systems that dry inside walls and under hardwood.
- 04
Check Every Day
We log temperature, humidity and moisture readings daily and adjust the setup.
- 05
Confirm It’s Dry
Equipment comes out only when readings match dry, unaffected materials in your home.
How Long Drying Takes
| Class | What’s Wet | Typical Time |
|---|---|---|
| Class 1 | Part of a room, materials that absorb little water | 1 to 3 days |
| Class 2 | A whole room: carpet, pad, walls wet less than 2 feet up | 3 to 5 days |
| Class 3 | Water from above: ceilings, walls, insulation and floors soaked | 5 to 7 days |
| Class 4 | Dense materials: hardwood, plaster, brick, concrete, crawlspaces | 1 to 2 weeks |
Classes follow the IICRC S500 standard. Times are typical ranges; every home dries differently.
Good to Know During Drying
Dry to the Touch Isn’t Dry
Drywall can feel dry while the framing behind it is still wet.
Readings Decide
We compare wet areas against dry materials elsewhere in your home, not against a guess.
Keep It Running
Equipment runs day and night. Please don’t turn it off or move it.
Windows Closed
Unless we say otherwise. Outside air can slow the dehumidifiers down.
It Is Loud
Air movers are noisy. We place them to keep living areas as usable as possible.
Logged for Insurance
Daily readings and photos go into the file your adjuster will review.
Water Extraction and Drying Questions
Why can’t I just use fans?
Fans move air over the surface. Without dehumidifiers the moisture stays in the room, and without meters there’s no way to know when walls and subfloors are dry.
Can my hardwood floor be saved?
Often, if drying starts quickly. Cupped boards can flatten as they dry. Badly buckled floors may need replacing.
Will drying raise my power bill?
Somewhat, since equipment runs around the clock for several days. It is part of the loss and is often included in the insurance claim.
Why does it take several days?
Water evaporates from inside materials slowly. Rushing it, or stopping early, leaves moisture behind for mold.
Can I stay home during drying?
Usually yes. The equipment is noisy but safe to live around.
Who decides when it’s dry?
The readings. Equipment comes out after materials reach the dry goal on our daily checks.
